What works offline
Core features work offline. Once Fresh Pantry is installed, the pantry and shopping-list features don't depend on a connection: you can open your inventory, add, edit and remove items, search and filter, and update your shopping list in a basement storeroom or anywhere else with poor reception.
You do need an internet connection to download Fresh Pantry from the App Store and to install updates, as with any iPhone app.
Why there is no account
Fresh Pantry keeps your pantry on your iPhone rather than on a server, so it has no use for an account. You don't pick a password or confirm an email address before adding your first item.
The released app has no account system and does not sync your pantry to an online service. That also means your list stays on the iPhone you entered it on and does not move to a new phone by itself. If you restore an iPhone from an iCloud or encrypted backup that included Fresh Pantry, iOS may restore its data along with everything else; that is handled by iOS, not by the app.
What stays on your device
Pantry and shopping-list data are stored on your device: item names, quantities, categories, storage locations, expiration dates and the items on your shopping list.
The app's App Store privacy label is "See current App Store privacy details". This website is separate from the app and uses its own analytics; the Privacy Policy explains both.
What you can track
Each item can have a quantity, a category, a storage location and an optional expiration date. Search and filters keep a long list manageable, and the shopping list holds what you plan to buy, separate from what you already have.
